Every Sunday at 7PM a missionary coordination discussion happens for one of the wards in our stake. It is 15-30 minutes in length. In attendance is a member of the Priests quorum presidency and a member of the class presidency for the oldest YW class. The main focus is progressing the work of salvation for the whole ward. Since the youth are interacting with non-members on a daily basis, they are a key part of the coordination meeting.

Leading the coordination discussion is the ward mission leader. Also, in attendance is a member of the Relief Society presidency, Elders Quorum presidency, ward missionaries and full-time missionaries. After talking to the ward mission leader, here are a couple things that he has found useful in ensuring the youth feel part of the coordination meeting:

1) Logistics: Make sure the youth know that they are needed at the meeting and are aware of the time and mechanism of the meeting (Zoom, google meet, etc).

2) Invite: Make sure the youth participants are invited to actively participate in the work of salvation. The group has found success in inviting the youth present in the meetings to go back to the rest of the youth and invite them to be part of missionary work.

3) Remember: The youth interact with non-members most days in their social settings. They have a lot of opportunities to let their light shine.

Thank you for engaging the youth in the work of salvation. The youth quorum and class presidencies have been set apart to lead the work of salvation in their quorum or class. They are officially part of these councils per the First Presidency letter of May 26, 2020.

I am confident as we continue to mentor them, they will continue to be great instruments in the Lord’s hands to further his work.
