An Aaronic priesthood quorum in our stake had a habit of going camping on a regular basis before the suspension of gatherings. They even had a campout planned the weekend church meetings were suspended. That campout unfortunately didn’t happen due to COVID -19.

Fast-forward six months, the weather forecast has improved, and the youth are allowed to have activities that follow safe practices with 15 or less people. Due to the change of events, the YM have decided to go camping.

Their challenge is to figure out a way to go camping that is safe for all participants. They decided to stay close to home and go camping in the woods near someone’s house. A couple things to think about when going camping during this unique time:

· Transportation: It can be hard for the ward to plan transportation, due to the need of practicing social distancing during transportation to and from the event. If you keep the camping location close to home it makes it easy for families to drop off and pick up their youth from the event.

· Sleeping arrangements: One tent per participant or siblings from the same household. Right now, isn’t the best time for people from different households to share a tent.

· Cooking arrangements: Think through safety protocols when cooking a group meal. If you decide not to do individual meals, make sure you follow safety protocols when preparing and serving food.

The great outdoors is a wonderful opportunity to help both Young Men and Young Women connect with heaven.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR CAMPING: PERFECT!
